Beyond ArtHive brings together three members of Austin's old ArtHive Art Studio. The work of ArtHive founder Nathan Jensen, and ArtHive artists Chris Chappell and Michael Schliefke.
The old ArtHive was run from a spare space in the back of Nathan Jensen's rental house in north central Austin from 2001 – 2003. This ambitious studio housed a variety of artists working in a variety of mediums that built a tight knit community that worked side by side and frequently exhibited together.
I paint for the pleasure of painting. Rarely is a piece planned as much as found. It is a quiet time with myself where I make marks and then make something interesting of those marks.
Illustration has been my bread and butter for the past 18 years as a freelance artist. I have had the opportunity to create for local, national and international publications. I have now four children's books on my shelf with more on the way.
Murals on limousines, 60' tall feed mill towers, children's rooms, adult rooms, bars, restaurants computer stores and coffee shops. You name it. I've painted on it.
